I have been busy during covid-19. Firstly I have republished my book The Sky is not the limit. and to help with the publicity I have had a video recorded of the subject of the book – Ross Hutchison.  He won a Australian Order of Merit medal. Great work Ross.  Enjoy his video.

To add to that I was invited by Kate Delaney to be interviewed for the America Tonight Radio Show.

The Radio interview was picked up by Dr. Carolyn  for her program on Smart TV. USA.    An hour TV interview is scheduled for 13th November 2020 so more on that later.

The TV interview with Dr   on Smart TV  USA.  Came from that last interview.  It was picked up there.

Ross Hutchison Foundation

AN EXCITING UPDATE

Everyone at the Ross Hutchison Foundation would like to let you all know what we are doing this year and what projects will be implemented as the year unfolds and are hoping that everyone will become involved at one stage or another and enjoy the journey with us!

Services we will offer to those in need:

The Food Pantry and Hampers – We also include personal care and will begin to include household cleaning items too.

We also provide clothing, Manchester, and furniture anything that is donated we provide it to those in need ASAP.

Help with other costs on an individual level according to need.

Projects we are hoping to involve the community:

Over the next few months we will be implementing projects such as:

A Community Cupboard

This will be run similar to the Pantry but with a difference, the cupboard will be stocked and if someone needs just one item such as milk, they can come get some milk and replace it with another item so the next person may benefit. In this way the community can help support each other.

A Community Bookshelf

I think this one explains itself, as long as everyone loves reading.

A Community Garden

This project will take longer than the others but we hope to gain a lot of benefit from this not only in the vegies that will be grown but in skills gained and better communication within the community.

Kiddies Corner

We are setting up a Kiddies corner in the Foundation so whether you are there for 5 mins or an hour the kids can have a bit of fun to, and with we will also be introducing a new member of the team to watch over the kids playing. Here’s a clue they live in water. Stay tuned!!

Fundraising

Now the fun bit! Now we are getting the Facebook page up and running and we can reach more people to let them know about the Foundation we thought we would run a few fun activities on our page to raise some money!

We will be holding raffles on a regular basis with some exciting items to be won and we will also be running auctions on our Facebook Page with some hard to find items, can’t tell you exactly what they are it will spoil the surprise.

Another Project that will be run by one of our Volunteers Aaron. If Matilda, the orange volkswagon van is outside Aaron is here, come and chat to him.(Yes we do name our cars here, they are as individual as the volunteers)

We are collecting recycling as a way to raise money, you may have seen our post last week regarding donating. Every little bit helps.

And as always we are always grateful for all donations, if you think you can help out with any of these projects, you may have something sitting around that might help!

Please don’t hesitate to come down speak with Ross, have a cup of coffee, or in this heat we do have ice blocks instead!

And help us engage with the community!

Moving on from there to new Poetry book.

Whisperings of the Soul

poems by Maggie Richardson

The Butterfly

A butterfly landed on my hand today

And rested momentarily

Clawing into my fingers

And my heart

And then he was gone.

He made me think of you

and the brief moment

you made me feel

so special.

(It’s a true story in poem form)

re of Maggie Richardson.  I come here to comment and to leave copies of my past work and sometimes my present work.   access to my last book – and recently  released book of my poetry  A friend asked me how do I write poetry and I replied that one doesn’t WRITE poetry – it just escapes from your psyche and thence the name Whisperings of the Soul.   If you would like to be on my mailing list let me know at Maggie@maggierichardson.net

I am happy to correspond with anyone who makes an intelligent comment or asks a question that shows you as a member of the ‘land of the living’ so let me hear from you there.

If you like my work please make a comment but remember you will only be linked to me if you say something sensible- a row of ????? or some other gobbleday gook will just end up in the rubbish bin and not end up as one of those lovely links that Google like to see so do yourself a favour and link to me.

My urge to write started in childhood. Our parents would put us kids to bed in time for them to listen to a radio program called Toosy Taylor Teller of Tales.  I never heard the show but I did hear the music and thought of mystery with esoteric subjects.

As we were still awake when the show started I would start to tell my sisters stories to help them go to sleep.  The main story was of a group of children who lived together and the storyline had the strange likeness to the TV show Home and Away except that the ‘parents’ were much younger Each night I would pick up the threads and continue the saga until my mother would shout from the lounge room ‘go to sleep’.   At that point would lower my voice until the girls went to sleep and then I would shut my eyes and think that one day I would become a writer.

I had to admit to feeling hurt that my mother didn’t appreciate my efforts as I was helping her put the ‘children’ to sleep but that didn’t stop me.

I remember writing a story of Whiskas, the cat who slept on my chest and perhaps contributed to my cat allergy, but that story is long gone so I can’t share it.  I will however share other stories and poems– well maybe not in chronological order as they are coming from the dusty box of scribblings in whatever order they may.

All of the poems have stories which I may share, but if I don’t then it is up to you my friend to take what you will and interpret it anyway you wish.

Since I decided to put my poems and stories online I have had lots of things in my life that delayed that.  Partly it was just time – there are many poems that will end up here – eventually.  In the meantime I set this blog on WordPress but as I hadn’t done a course, of course I messed it up.  Sure ‘they’ say WordPress is easy (and it is when you know what you are talking about.)  Now I am getting the hang of it,

I will take one step at a time and hopefully you will enjoy the end result.

Please scroll down or jump into whichever category that interests you.  Comments?  Sure you can comment. Each person gets different things from the written word so I’d like to know your interpretation.  I won’t tell you who I write things for or why but you don’t need that. This is not a manual for life – it is more a record of my feelings and thoughts as I progress through life.  So tell me which ones you like and how you relate to anything else you like, but keep it clean if you wish your words to be seen.

Please enjoy

Welcome to the Meanderings of Maggie Richardson.
